Description

8-arm PEG-GAS is a branched PEG macromolecule functionalized with glutaric acid NHS ester (GAS) groups at the terminus of each PEG arm. The activated NHS ester reacts rapidly and selectively with primary amines under mild aqueous conditions (typically pH 7.2–8.5), producing stable amide linkages while preserving the biological activity of sensitive biomolecules.

The eight-arm architecture provides a high density of reactive sites, enabling efficient crosslinking, multivalent conjugation, and the preparation of three-dimensional PEG hydrogel networks. Compared with linear PEG derivatives, 8-arm PEG-GAS offers enhanced crosslinking efficiency, improved mechanical strength, and greater control over hydrogel properties.
