Description
General Description
DSPE-PEG-NHS is a phospholipid–poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate containing DSPE (distearoyl phosphoethanolamine), a hydrophilic PEG spacer, and a terminal NHS ester functional group. The NHS ester readily reacts with primary amines to form stable amide bonds under mild conditions.
Key Properties
- NHS ester-functionalized lipid PEG conjugate
- Reactive toward primary amines
- DSPE lipid anchor for membrane incorporation
- PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility and steric stabilization
- Biocompatible lipid–polymer hybrid material
Applications
- Liposome and lipid nanoparticle functionalization
- Amine-reactive bioconjugation
- Surface modification of nanoparticles and biomaterials
- Targeted drug delivery system development
- Protein and antibody conjugation
- Hydrogel and polymer functionalization
Functional Overview
The DSPE lipid segment anchors into lipid bilayers, while PEG provides flexibility and stealth properties. The terminal NHS ester reacts efficiently with amine-containing molecules to enable stable conjugation and surface functionalization.
Summary
DSPE-PEG-NHS is a versatile amine-reactive lipid PEG conjugate widely used in liposome engineering, bioconjugation, and advanced drug delivery applications.
