Description
General Description
PCL-mPEG is a biodegradable block copolymer that combines the hydrophobic characteristics of poly(ε-caprolactone) with the hydrophilic and biocompatible properties of methoxy polyethylene glycol. Due to its amphiphilic structure, PCL-mPEG readily self-assembles into micelles and nanoparticles in aqueous environments, making it an attractive material for encapsulation and delivery of hydrophobic therapeutic agents.
The PCL segment undergoes slow hydrolytic degradation, providing sustained drug release profiles, while the mPEG segment enhances water dispersibility, colloidal stability, and circulation time. PCL-mPEG has been extensively investigated for controlled drug delivery, cancer therapy, gene delivery, tissue engineering, and nanomedicine applications.
