Biotin-dPEG2-Maleimide

Price range: $180.00 through $385.00

Biotin-PEG2-Maleimide is a heterobifunctional biotin reagent containing a biotin group and a thiol-reactive maleimide (MAL) separated by a defined PEG2 spacer. The maleimide reacts selectively with thiols (SH), including cysteine residues in proteins and peptides, while biotin provides high-affinity binding to avidin, streptavidin, and neutravidin. Biotin-PEG2-Maleimide is useful for protein biotinylation, cysteine labeling, affinity capture, biomolecule immobilization, and bioconjugation.

Description

General Description

Biotin-PEG2-Maleimide is a heterobifunctional biotinylation reagent consisting of a biotin moiety, a defined PEG2 spacer, and a terminal maleimide functional group.

The maleimide group reacts efficiently with thiol (SH) groups, particularly cysteine residues in peptides and proteins, through Michael addition to form a covalent thioether linkage.

The biotin moiety provides strong noncovalent binding to avidin, streptavidin, and neutravidin, allowing the conjugated biomolecule to be detected, captured, purified, or immobilized using biotin-binding proteins.

The defined PEG2 spacer provides hydrophilic separation between the biotin group and the conjugated molecule while maintaining a compact linker structure.
