DSG-PEG

Price range: $180.00 through $960.00

DSG-PEG is a PEGylated phospholipid consisting of 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycerol (DSG) conjugated to polyethylene glycol (PEG). The hydrophobic DSG lipid anchor enables stable incorporation into liposomes and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), while the PEG chain provides steric stabilization, improves aqueous dispersibility, prolongs circulation time, and reduces nonspecific protein adsorption. DSG-PEG is widely used in liposome formulation, lipid nanoparticles, drug delivery, and nanomedicine research.

Description

General Description

DSG-PEG is an amphiphilic PEG-lipid designed for the preparation of long-circulating liposomes and lipid nanoparticles. The DSG moiety contains two saturated stearoyl (C18:0) lipid chains that readily incorporate into phospholipid bilayers, providing excellent membrane stability. The hydrophilic PEG chain extends into the surrounding aqueous environment, creating a protective steric barrier that minimizes particle aggregation, reduces opsonization, and enhances systemic circulation.

Compared with conventional phospholipids, PEGylated DSG significantly improves the colloidal stability and pharmacokinetic performance of lipid-based delivery systems. Depending on the terminal functionality of the PEG chain (e.g., methoxy, amine, carboxyl, maleimide, azide, biotin), DSG-PEG can also serve as a versatile platform for surface functionalization and targeted drug delivery.

DSG-PEG is widely employed in liposome engineering, lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, gene delivery, vaccine development, molecular imaging, and biomaterials research.
