Description
General Description
Folate-PEG-N₃, Folate-PEG-Azide consists of a folic acid targeting ligand connected to polyethylene glycol (PEG) and terminated with an azide group. The PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility, reduces nonspecific interactions, and enhances biocompatibility, while the folate group provides selective recognition of folate receptors frequently overexpressed on various cancer cells.
The terminal azide functionality serves as a highly versatile reactive group for copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions. Folate-PEG-Azide is commonly employed for the preparation of targeted nanoparticles, liposomes, imaging probes, drug conjugates, and biomaterials designed for receptor-mediated cellular uptake.
