Folate-PEG-SH

Price range: $360.00 through $760.00

Folate-PEG-SH (Folic Acid-Polyethylene Glycol-Thiol) is a folate-functionalized polyethylene glycol derivative containing a terminal thiol (SH) group. The folate moiety enables targeted delivery to folate receptor-overexpressing cancer cells, while the PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility, biocompatibility, and circulation time. The terminal thiol group provides a versatile reactive site for thiol-maleimide coupling, disulfide bond formation, and surface immobilization. Folate-PEG-SH is widely used in targeted drug delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, cancer research, and bioconjugation applications.

Folate-PEG-SH chemical structure

Description

General Description

Folate-PEG-SH is a heterobifunctional PEG derivative designed for targeted drug delivery and biomolecule conjugation. The folic acid moiety serves as a targeting ligand for folate receptors, which are overexpressed in many tumor cells including ovarian, breast, lung, kidney, colorectal, and cervical cancers.

The PEG spacer improves water solubility, reduces immunogenicity, minimizes nonspecific interactions, and prolongs systemic circulation. The terminal thiol group readily reacts with maleimides, vinyl sulfones, acrylates, gold surfaces, and other thiol-reactive molecules, enabling efficient conjugation to nanoparticles, liposomes, proteins, antibodies, peptides, and imaging agents.

Folate-PEG-SH is commonly employed in targeted nanomedicine, cancer imaging, biosensing, surface engineering, and advanced biomaterials research.
