General Description
N3-PEG-Maleimide (Synthesis Kit) provides a convenient approach for generating Azide-PEG-Maleimide linkers through the reaction of N3-PEG-NH2 with Maleimide-NHS Ester. Supplying the two components separately minimizes maleimide hydrolysis during storage and ensures maximum coupling efficiency when the linker is prepared immediately before use.
The resulting N3-PEG-Maleimide linker combines two orthogonal reactive functionalities. The azide group enables copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions, while the maleimide group selectively reacts with thiol-containing molecules.
