Description
General Description
Cholesterol-PEG-SH is a versatile lipid-PEG conjugate designed for membrane anchoring and biomolecule conjugation. The cholesterol segment readily inserts into liposomal membranes and lipid nanoparticle formulations, while the PEG chain extends into the aqueous environment, improving colloidal stability and reducing nonspecific interactions.
The terminal thiol group reacts efficiently with maleimides, vinyl sulfones, acrylates, gold surfaces, and other thiol-reactive molecules, enabling attachment of peptides, proteins, antibodies, fluorophores, nucleic acids, and targeting ligands. Cholesterol-PEG-SH is widely used in liposome engineering, targeted nanomedicine, diagnostic applications, and biofunctionalized nanoparticle development.
