Description
General Description
Cholesterol-PEG-Folate is a targeted lipid-PEG conjugate designed for membrane anchoring and folate receptor-mediated delivery. The cholesterol segment readily inserts into liposomal membranes and lipid nanoparticle formulations, while the PEG spacer extends into the aqueous environment, improving colloidal stability, circulation properties, and reducing nonspecific interactions.
The terminal folate ligand specifically recognizes folate receptors that are overexpressed on many cancer cells and activated macrophages. This targeting capability enables enhanced cellular uptake and selective delivery of therapeutics, imaging agents, and nanomedicines. Cholesterol-PEG-Folate is widely used in targeted liposomes, lipid nanoparticles, drug delivery systems, diagnostic applications, and cancer research.
