Description
General Description
Cholesterol-PEG-OH consists of a cholesterol anchor attached to a polyethylene glycol chain terminated with a hydroxyl group. The cholesterol segment can readily incorporate into lipid membranes and lipid-based nanocarriers, while the PEG chain extends into the aqueous environment, reducing aggregation and improving colloidal stability.
The terminal hydroxyl group can serve as a precursor for further chemical modification and synthesis of functional cholesterol-PEG conjugates. Cholesterol-PEG-OH is commonly employed in liposome engineering, lipid nanoparticle formulation, targeted drug delivery systems, and biomaterials research.
