Description
General Description
OPSS-Poly(L-Glutamic Acid) is a functional polypeptide designed for reversible bioconjugation and advanced drug delivery applications. The terminal OPSS (ortho-pyridyl disulfide) group reacts rapidly and selectively with free sulfhydryl (thiol) groups on proteins, peptides, antibodies, and other biomolecules through thiol-disulfide exchange, forming cleavable disulfide linkages while releasing pyridine-2-thione.
The biodegradable poly(L-glutamic acid) backbone contains numerous pendant carboxylic acid groups that can be activated using EDC/NHS chemistry or peptide-coupling reagents for conjugation with proteins, peptides, antibodies, drugs, polymers, nanoparticles, and imaging agents.
The combination of a biodegradable polymer backbone, multiple reactive carboxyl groups, and a terminal OPSS functionality makes OPSS-pGlu an excellent material for redox-responsive drug delivery, polymer-drug conjugates, reversible protein conjugation, hydrogel synthesis, nanoparticle functionalization, and advanced biomaterials.
