Description
General Description
DOPE-mPEG is a phospholipid–poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate containing DOPE (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, C18:1) and a methoxy-terminated PEG chain. The unsaturated DOPE lipid structure provides membrane fusion capability, while the PEG spacer improves aqueous stability, steric stabilization, and biocompatibility.
Key Properties
- Methoxy-terminated PEG phospholipid
- DOPE phospholipid anchor (C18:1)
- Unsaturated fusogenic lipid structure
- PEG spacer improves hydrophilicity and circulation stability
- Suitable for liposome and nanoparticle stabilization
Applications
- Liposome formulation
- Lipid nanoparticle (LNP) engineering
- Drug and nucleic acid delivery
- PEGylation and steric stabilization
- Nanomedicine and biomaterial engineering
- Surface modification of lipid-based systems
Functional Overview
The DOPE lipid segment supports membrane fusion and endosomal escape, while the methoxy PEG chain forms a hydrophilic corona that improves colloidal stability and biocompatibility.
Summary
DOPE-mPEG is a versatile PEGylated phospholipid widely used in liposome engineering, lipid nanoparticle stabilization, and advanced drug delivery applications.
