Description
General Description
Biotin-PEG-Maleimide is a multifunctional PEG linker designed for streptavidin-mediated immobilization and thiol-specific bioconjugation applications. The biotin group binds strongly and specifically to streptavidin, avidin, and neutravidin, enabling attachment of proteins, antibodies, peptides, enzymes, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and other biomolecules.
The hydrophilic PEG spacer improves water solubility, flexibility, biocompatibility, and reduces steric hindrance during biological interactions. The terminal maleimide group selectively reacts with sulfhydryl-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and targeting ligands under mild conditions to form stable thioether linkages.
Biotin-PEG-Maleimide is frequently employed in biosensor fabrication, targeted drug delivery systems, nanoparticle engineering, molecular diagnostics, surface modification, and biomedical research.
