Description
General Description
Thiol-PEG-Amine/HS-PEG-NH2 is a versatile heterobifunctional PEG linker designed for orthogonal bioconjugation and surface engineering. The terminal thiol group reacts rapidly and selectively with maleimide-functionalized molecules to form stable thioether bonds. It also participates in thiol-ene reactions, disulfide exchange, and self-assembly on gold surfaces, making it valuable for biosensor fabrication and nanotechnology applications.
The terminal primary amine reacts readily with activated carboxylic acids (via EDC/NHS chemistry), aldehydes, isothiocyanates, activated esters, and epoxides, allowing efficient conjugation to proteins, peptides, antibodies, polymers, nanoparticles, and biomaterial surfaces.
The hydrophilic PEG spacer enhances water solubility, molecular flexibility, and biocompatibility while minimizing nonspecific protein adsorption. HS-PEG-NH2 is widely employed in antibody conjugation, hydrogel synthesis, nanoparticle engineering, biosensors, molecular imaging, and targeted drug delivery.
