DSPE-Aldehyde (DSPE-ALD)

Price range: $360.00 through $1,200.00

DSPE-Aldehyde (DSPE-ALD) is a functional phospholipid derivative containing a DSPE lipid anchor and a reactive aldehyde (ALD) group. The aldehyde functionality reacts with primary amines, hydrazides, and aminooxy-containing molecules, while the DSPE lipid enables stable incorporation into liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and lipid membranes. DSPE-Aldehyde is widely used in liposome surface modification, bioconjugation, targeted drug delivery, molecular imaging, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

DSPE-Aldehyde (DSPE-ALD) is a reactive lipid building block designed for the functionalization of lipid-based delivery systems. The DSPE component contains two saturated stearoyl (C18:0) lipid chains that provide strong hydrophobic anchoring into lipid bilayers, liposomes, and lipid nanoparticles.

The terminal aldehyde group reacts readily with primary amines to form Schiff base linkages, which can be stabilized through reductive amination to generate stable secondary amine bonds. Aldehyde groups also react efficiently with hydrazide and aminooxy-functionalized molecules to form hydrazone and oxime linkages, enabling attachment of peptides, proteins, antibodies, targeting ligands, polymers, and imaging probes.

DSPE-Aldehyde combines the excellent membrane stability of DSPE with versatile aldehyde chemistry, making it useful for preparing targeted liposomes, functional nanoparticles, biosensors, diagnostic agents, and advanced nanomedicine platforms.
