Description
General Description
DSPE-PEG-VS is a functional phospholipid derivative designed for membrane anchoring and thiol-selective bioconjugation. The DSPE segment efficiently inserts into lipid bilayers, liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), micelles, and other lipid-based delivery systems. The PEG spacer extends into the aqueous environment, improving colloidal stability, reducing steric hindrance, and minimizing nonspecific interactions.
The terminal vinyl sulfone group reacts readily with sulfhydryl-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and thiolated oligonucleotides through Michael addition chemistry under mild conditions. Compared with maleimide groups, vinyl sulfone functionalities often provide enhanced hydrolytic stability and highly stable thioether linkages. DSPE-PEG-VS is frequently used for targeted delivery systems, immunoliposomes, nanoparticle engineering, and advanced nanomedicine applications.
