Description
General Description
Lipoic acid-PEG-FITC (LA-PEG-FITC) is a multifunctional fluorescent PEG linker designed for nanoparticle surface engineering and optical imaging applications. The terminal lipoic acid contains a cyclic disulfide that strongly binds to gold nanoparticles, gold electrodes, and other noble metal surfaces through sulfur-metal interactions, providing excellent surface stability.
The FITC fluorophore provides bright green fluorescence with excitation at approximately 495 nm and emission at approximately 519 nm, making it suitable for fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, and other fluorescence-based analytical techniques.
The hydrophilic PEG spacer improves water solubility, molecular flexibility, and biocompatibility while reducing steric hindrance and minimizing nonspecific protein adsorption. Lipoic Acid-PEG-FITC is extensively used for fluorescent gold nanoparticles, biosensors, molecular imaging probes, diagnostic assays, targeted drug delivery, and nanomedicine research.
