Description
PCL-PEG-Vinyl Sulfone (PCL-PEG-VS) is a biodegradable amphiphilic block copolymer developed for advanced drug delivery and thiol-selective bioconjugation. The hydrophobic poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) block readily self-assembles into polymeric micelles and nanoparticles capable of encapsulating hydrophobic therapeutics, while the hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) block enhances aqueous solubility, colloidal stability, prolonged circulation, and biocompatibility.
The terminal vinyl sulfone (VS) group is a highly selective Michael acceptor that reacts efficiently with sulfhydryl groups on cysteine-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and other thiolated biomolecules under mild physiological conditions. The resulting thioether linkage is stable and non-reducible, making PCL-PEG-Vinyl Sulfone particularly suitable for preparing robust bioconjugates and functional nanocarriers.
