PLLA-PEG-Biotin (PLLA-PEG-BIO)

Price range: $160.00 through $500.00

PLLA-PEG-Biotin (PLLA-PEG-BIO) is a biodegradable amphiphilic block copolymer composed of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and a terminal biotin group. The hydrophobic PLLA block supports nanoparticle and micelle formation, while PEG provides hydrophilicity and steric stabilization. Terminal biotin enables high-affinity interaction with avidin, streptavidin, and neutravidin for targeted drug delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, biosensing, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

PLLA-PEG-Biotin (PLLA-PEG-BIO) is a functional biodegradable block copolymer consisting of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), a hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer, and a terminal biotin group.

The hydrophobic PLLA block provides a biodegradable polymer domain suitable for forming polymeric micelles, nanoparticles, and other self-assembled nanostructures. The PEG segment improves aqueous dispersibility and colloidal stability and provides a flexible spacer that presents the biotin group at the nanoparticle or material surface.

Biotin has exceptionally strong noncovalent affinity for avidin and streptavidin. This interaction provides a convenient strategy for attaching biotin- or streptavidin-associated proteins, peptides, antibodies, targeting ligands, enzymes, fluorophores, and other biomolecules to PLLA-PEG-based nanomaterials.

PLLA-PEG-Biotin is useful for developing functionalized biodegradable nanoparticles, targeted drug delivery systems, affinity-based assemblies, biosensors, diagnostic platforms, and advanced biomaterials.
