Description
General Description
PLGA-Biotin is a functional biodegradable polyester designed for affinity-based drug delivery and bioconjugation applications. The PLGA backbone provides controlled biodegradation and sustained drug release, while the terminal biotin group enables strong and specific interaction with streptavidin- and avidin-functionalized biomolecules.
PLGA-Biotin is commonly used to prepare targeted nanoparticles, microspheres, and biodegradable implants. The biotin functionality facilitates the immobilization or conjugation of antibodies, proteins, peptides, enzymes, nucleic acids, fluorophores, and other biomolecules through the streptavidin-biotin system, making it a versatile platform for targeted therapeutics, diagnostics, and molecular imaging.
The degradation rate of PLGA can be tailored by selecting different lactide ratios and molecular weights, allowing optimization of drug release profiles for a wide range of biomedical applications.
