Description
General Description
PLGA-mPEG (mPEG-PLGA) is one of the most widely studied biodegradable block copolymers for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. The PLGA segment forms a biodegradable hydrophobic core capable of encapsulating hydrophobic drugs, proteins, peptides, and imaging agents, while the mPEG segment forms a hydrophilic corona that enhances colloidal stability and reduces nonspecific protein adsorption.
Due to its amphiphilic nature, PLGA-mPEG readily self-assembles into nanoparticles, micelles, and nanocarriers in aqueous environments. The copolymer has been extensively investigated for controlled drug delivery, cancer therapy, gene delivery, vaccine development, tissue engineering, and nanomedicine applications.
