PLLA-PEG-Folate (PLLA-PEG-FA)

Price range: $300.00 through $480.00

PLLA-PEG-Folate (PLLA-PEG-FA) is a biodegradable amphiphilic block copolymer composed of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and a terminal folate (folic acid) targeting ligand. The hydrophobic PLLA block supports nanoparticle and micelle formation, while PEG provides hydrophilicity and steric stabilization. Terminal folate enables folate receptor-mediated targeting, making PLLA-PEG-Folate useful for targeted drug delivery, nanoparticle formulation, imaging, and biomaterials research.

PLLA-PEG-Folate

Description

General Description

PLLA-PEG-Folate (PLLA-PEG-FA) is a functional biodegradable block copolymer consisting of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), a hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer, and a terminal folate (folic acid) targeting group.

The hydrophobic PLLA block provides a biodegradable polymer domain suitable for encapsulation of hydrophobic compounds and formation of polymeric nanoparticles, micelles, and other self-assembled nanostructures. The PEG segment improves aqueous dispersibility and colloidal stability while extending the folate ligand away from the nanoparticle surface to facilitate receptor recognition.

Folate receptors are overexpressed in certain cancer cells and other cell types, making folate a widely investigated targeting ligand for receptor-mediated cellular uptake. PLLA-PEG-Folate can therefore be incorporated into polymeric nanoparticles and other drug delivery systems to provide folate receptor-targeting functionality.

PLLA-PEG-Folate is widely used in targeted drug delivery, cancer nanomedicine research, nanoparticle formulation, cellular uptake studies, molecular imaging, and advanced biomaterials.
