Description
General Description
Silane-PEG-COOH is a versatile surface-modification reagent designed for introducing carboxyl functionalities onto inorganic materials and nanomaterials. The trialkoxysilane group readily hydrolyzes and forms stable siloxane bonds with hydroxyl-rich surfaces such as silica nanoparticles, glass slides, silicon wafers, quartz substrates, iron oxide nanoparticles, and other metal oxides.
The PEG spacer improves hydrophilicity, reduces nonspecific protein adsorption, minimizes surface fouling, and enhances biocompatibility. The terminal carboxylic acid group can be activated using EDC/NHS chemistry for conjugation of proteins, antibodies, peptides, enzymes, fluorophores, aptamers, and targeting ligands.
Silane-PEG-COOH is widely employed in nanoparticle functionalization, biosensor fabrication, diagnostic devices, biointerfaces, surface coatings, and targeted drug delivery systems.
