tBoc-NH-PEG-OH (Boc-PEG-OH)

Price range: $200.00 through $1,200.00

tBoc-NH-PEG-OH (Boc-PEG-OH) is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative containing a tert-butyloxycarbonyl (Boc)-protected amine at one terminus and a hydroxyl (OH) group at the other. The Boc group protects the amine during multistep synthesis and can be readily removed under acidic conditions to generate NH2-PEG-OH. tBoc-NH-PEG-OH is widely used as a PEG building block for polymer synthesis, bioconjugation, drug delivery, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

tBoc-NH-PEG-OH (Boc-PEG-OH) is a versatile heterobifunctional PEG intermediate designed for controlled organic synthesis and orthogonal functionalization. The terminal Boc-protected amine remains chemically inert under many reaction conditions, allowing selective modification of the hydroxyl terminus without interference from the amine. After synthetic transformations are complete, the Boc group can be removed using acidic reagents such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or hydrochloric acid in dioxane to generate the corresponding primary amine.

The terminal hydroxyl group can be converted into activated esters, carboxylic acids, aldehydes, halides, acrylates, methacrylates, azides, alkynes, or other functional groups, making tBoc-NH-PEG-OH a highly versatile intermediate for preparing heterobifunctional PEG linkers.

The hydrophilic PEG spacer provides excellent water solubility, flexibility, and biocompatibility. tBoc-NH-PEG-OH is widely employed in PEG linker synthesis, polymer chemistry, peptide synthesis, nanoparticle engineering, drug conjugation, and advanced biomaterials development.
