Description
General Description
Cholesterol-PEG-NH₂ is a versatile lipid-PEG conjugate designed for membrane anchoring and biomolecule conjugation. The cholesterol segment readily inserts into liposomal membranes and lipid nanoparticle formulations, while the PEG chain extends into the aqueous environment, improving colloidal stability and reducing nonspecific interactions.
The terminal amine group readily reacts with activated esters, carboxylic acids, aldehydes, isocyanates, and other amine-reactive compounds, enabling attachment of peptides, proteins, antibodies, nucleic acids, fluorophores, and targeting ligands. Cholesterol-PEG-NH₂ is widely used in liposome engineering, targeted nanomedicine, diagnostic applications, and biofunctionalized nanoparticle development.
