Description
HO-PEG-COOH is a versatile heterobifunctional PEG linker designed for polymer chemistry and biomedical applications. The hydrophilic PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility, flexibility, biocompatibility, and reduces nonspecific interactions.
The terminal hydroxyl group can be utilized as an initiator for ring-opening polymerization of lactide, glycolide, caprolactone, and other cyclic monomers, making HO-PEG-COOH an important intermediate for the synthesis of PLGA-PEG, PLA-PEG, PCL-PEG, and related biodegradable block copolymers.
The terminal carboxylic acid group can be activated using EDC/NHS chemistry to conjugate proteins, peptides, antibodies, fluorophores, nanoparticles, and other amine-containing molecules. HO-PEG-COOH is frequently employed in drug delivery systems, nanoparticle engineering, hydrogel preparation, polymer synthesis, and advanced biomaterials development.
