Description
General Description
mPEG-Acetic Acid (mPEG-AA) is a versatile monofunctional PEG reagent designed for the conjugation of biomolecules and the preparation of PEGylated materials. The terminal methoxy group is chemically inert, preventing polymer crosslinking, while the terminal acetic acid provides a reactive carboxyl group for selective coupling with amine-containing compounds.
The carboxylic acid group can be activated using carbodiimide chemistry (EDC/NHS) or other peptide-coupling reagents to efficiently react with proteins, peptides, antibodies, nanoparticles, polymers, and small-molecule drugs. The PEG spacer enhances water solubility, improves biocompatibility, reduces nonspecific protein adsorption, and prolongs circulation time in vivo.
mPEG-AA is widely used for protein PEGylation, nanoparticle surface modification, hydrogel synthesis, polymer-drug conjugates, diagnostic reagent development, and advanced biomaterials research.
