mPEG-Succinimidyl Carbonate (mPEG-SC)

Price range: $260.00 through $900.00

mPEG-Succinimidyl Carbonate (mPEG-SC) is a linear monofunctional polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative containing a methoxy (mPEG) group at one terminus and an activated succinimidyl carbonate (SC) group at the other. The activated carbonate readily reacts with primary amines to form stable carbamate (urethane) linkages, making mPEG-SC an excellent reagent for PEGylation, protein conjugation, drug delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

mPEG-Succinimidyl Carbonate (mPEG-SC) is a highly reactive linear monofunctional PEG reagent designed for efficient amine-selective PEGylation. The terminal methoxy group is chemically inert, preventing polymer crosslinking, while the succinimidyl carbonate group serves as an activated carbonate for rapid conjugation with primary amines.

The activated succinimidyl carbonate reacts readily with proteins, peptides, antibodies, enzymes, amino-containing polymers, nanoparticles, and other biomolecules under mild aqueous conditions (typically pH 7.5–9.0), forming stable carbamate (urethane) linkages. Compared with NHS esters, the resulting carbamate bond is often more resistant to hydrolysis, making mPEG-SC a preferred reagent for many therapeutic PEGylation applications.

The PEG spacer enhances aqueous solubility, improves biocompatibility, reduces nonspecific protein adsorption, and prolongs circulation time in vivo. mPEG-SC is widely employed for therapeutic protein PEGylation, enzyme modification, antibody conjugation, nanoparticle surface engineering, hydrogel preparation, and advanced biomedical research.
