mPEG-Glutaric Acid (mPEG-GA)

Price range: $200.00 through $800.00

mPEG-Glutaric Acid (mPEG-GA) is a monofunctional polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative containing a methoxy (mPEG) group at one terminus and a glutaric acid (GA) group at the other. The terminal carboxylic acid readily reacts with primary amines through EDC/NHS coupling chemistry, making mPEG-GA an excellent reagent for PEGylation, bioconjugation, drug delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

mPEG-Glutaric Acid (mPEG-GA) is a versatile monofunctional PEG reagent designed for the conjugation of biomolecules and the preparation of PEGylated materials. The terminal methoxy group is chemically inert, preventing polymer crosslinking, while the terminal glutaric acid provides a reactive carboxylic acid functionality separated from the PEG chain by a flexible spacer.

The terminal carboxyl group can be activated using carbodiimide chemistry (EDC/NHS) or other peptide-coupling reagents for efficient conjugation with proteins, peptides, antibodies, amine-containing drugs, nanoparticles, and polymers. Compared with shorter carboxyl-functionalized PEGs, the glutaric acid spacer can improve coupling efficiency and reduce steric hindrance during conjugation.

The PEG spacer enhances water solubility, improves biocompatibility, reduces nonspecific protein adsorption, and prolongs circulation time in vivo. mPEG-GA is widely used in protein PEGylation, drug conjugation, hydrogel synthesis, nanoparticle surface modification, and biomedical research.
