PCL-PEG-Maleimide (PCL-PEG-Mal)

Price range: $300.00 through $1,200.00

PCL-PEG-Maleimide (PCL-PEG-Mal) is a biodegradable amphiphilic block copolymer consisting of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and a terminal maleimide group. The hydrophobic PCL segment enables drug encapsulation and sustained release, the PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility and biocompatibility, and the maleimide functionality provides efficient conjugation with thiol-containing biomolecules. PCL-PEG-Maleimide is widely used in targeted drug delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, biomaterials engineering, and nanomedicine research.

Description

General Description

PCL-PEG-Maleimide is a functional biodegradable copolymer designed for nanoparticle engineering and thiol-specific bioconjugation applications. The hydrophobic PCL segment forms the core of nanoparticles and micelles capable of encapsulating hydrophobic drugs, proteins, peptides, and imaging agents, while the PEG segment forms a hydrophilic corona that enhances colloidal stability and reduces nonspecific protein adsorption.

The terminal maleimide group selectively reacts with sulfhydryl-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and targeting ligands under mild conditions to form stable thioether linkages. PCL-PEG-Maleimide combines the sustained-release properties of PCL with the versatility of maleimide chemistry, making it useful for targeted drug delivery systems, polymer therapeutics, imaging agents, and advanced biomaterials.
