General Description

8-arm PEG-SS is a branched PEG macromolecule functionalized with succinimidyl succinate (SS) groups at the terminus of each PEG arm. The terminal NHS ester groups readily react with primary amines under mild aqueous conditions (typically pH 7.2–8.5), producing stable amide linkages while preserving the biological activity of sensitive biomolecules.

The eight-arm architecture provides a high density of reactive sites, enabling efficient multivalent conjugation and the fabrication of highly crosslinked PEG hydrogel networks. Compared with linear PEG derivatives, 8-arm PEG-SS offers enhanced crosslinking efficiency, improved hydrogel mechanical strength, and greater flexibility for designing advanced biomaterials.
