Description

General Description

8-arm PEG-SG is a branched PEG macromolecule functionalized with succinimidyl glutarate (SG) groups at the terminus of each PEG arm. The activated NHS ester reacts rapidly and selectively with primary amines under mild aqueous conditions (typically pH 7.2–8.5), forming stable amide linkages while maintaining the biological activity of sensitive biomolecules.

The eight-arm architecture provides a high density of reactive sites, enabling efficient crosslinking, multivalent conjugation, and the fabrication of three-dimensional PEG hydrogel networks. Compared with linear PEG derivatives, 8-arm PEG-SG offers higher crosslinking efficiency, enhanced mechanical strength, and improved control over hydrogel structure and properties.
