HS-PEG-OH

Price range: $300.00 through $1,500.00

HS-PEG-OH (Thiol-PEG-Hydroxyl) is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative containing a terminal thiol (SH) group and a terminal hydroxyl (OH) group. The thiol functionality enables selective conjugation with maleimides, vinyl sulfones, activated disulfides, acrylates, and gold surfaces, while the hydroxyl group serves as a versatile handle for further chemical modification. HS-PEG-OH is widely used in surface modification, nanoparticle functionalization, bioconjugation, drug delivery, and biomaterials research.

Description

General Description

HS-PEG-OH is a versatile heterobifunctional PEG linker designed for orthogonal functionalization and surface engineering. The terminal thiol group reacts rapidly and selectively with maleimides to form stable thioether linkages. It also participates in thiol-ene reactions, disulfide exchange, Michael addition, and readily self-assembles onto gold nanoparticles and gold-coated surfaces through strong gold-sulfur interactions.

The terminal hydroxyl group provides a convenient site for further derivatization into carboxyl, amine, NHS ester, aldehyde, azide, alkyne, acrylate, methacrylate, and numerous other functional PEG derivatives.

The hydrophilic PEG spacer enhances water solubility, molecular flexibility, and biocompatibility while reducing nonspecific protein adsorption. HS-PEG-OH is widely employed in biosensor fabrication, nanoparticle engineering, surface PEGylation, hydrogel synthesis, molecular imaging, and targeted drug delivery.
