General Description
HSPC is a pharmaceutical-grade phospholipid widely employed in advanced lipid-based drug delivery systems. Through hydrogenation of natural soy phosphatidylcholine, unsaturated fatty acid chains are converted into saturated lipid chains, resulting in improved oxidative stability and increased membrane packing.
The highly saturated lipid structure provides a high phase transition temperature and forms rigid, stable lipid bilayers. This property makes HSPC particularly useful for preparing long-circulating liposomes and controlled-release lipid formulations.
HSPC is commonly combined with cholesterol and PEG-lipids such as DSPE-PEG derivatives to improve liposome stability, reduce aggregation, enhance circulation time, and optimize drug encapsulation performance.
