Description
General Description
Lipoic Acid-PEG-Biotin is a multifunctional PEG derivative designed for surface engineering and streptavidin-mediated bioconjugation. The lipoic acid moiety contains a cyclic disulfide structure that forms highly stable interactions with gold surfaces and nanoparticles, making it particularly useful for gold nanoparticle modification and biosensor fabrication.
The PEG spacer improves water solubility, flexibility, biocompatibility, and reduces steric hindrance during binding events. The terminal biotin group enables highly specific and exceptionally strong binding to streptavidin, avidin, and neutravidin, allowing immobilization of proteins, antibodies, peptides, nucleic acids, fluorophores, and nanoparticles.
LA-PEG-Biotin is frequently employed in biosensor development, nanoparticle functionalization, molecular diagnostics, targeted delivery systems, and biomedical research.
