Description
General Description
Maleimide-PEG-FITC is a multifunctional fluorescent PEG linker designed for thiol-specific bioconjugation and fluorescence imaging. The terminal maleimide group rapidly and selectively reacts with sulfhydryl (thiol) groups on cysteine-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and other biomolecules under mild physiological conditions, forming stable thioether linkages.
The FITC fluorophore provides bright green fluorescence with an excitation wavelength of approximately 495 nm and an emission wavelength of approximately 519 nm, making it suitable for fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, and other fluorescence-based analytical techniques.
The hydrophilic PEG spacer enhances water solubility, molecular flexibility, and biocompatibility while reducing steric hindrance and minimizing nonspecific protein adsorption. Maleimide-PEG-FITC is extensively used for fluorescent protein labeling, antibody labeling, nanoparticle functionalization, biosensor fabrication, molecular imaging, and targeted drug delivery.
