Description
General Description
OPSS-Poly(L-Arginine) is a functional cationic polypeptide designed for reversible thiol conjugation and advanced drug delivery applications. The terminal OPSS (ortho-pyridyl disulfide) group reacts rapidly and selectively with free sulfhydryl (thiol) groups on proteins, peptides, antibodies, and other biomolecules through thiol-disulfide exchange, forming cleavable disulfide linkages while releasing pyridine-2-thione.
The poly(L-arginine) backbone contains multiple positively charged guanidinium groups that readily interact with negatively charged nucleic acids such as DNA, RNA, siRNA, and mRNA. Poly(L-arginine) is also well known for its excellent cell-penetrating properties, making it an attractive carrier for intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, proteins, peptides, and small molecules.
The combination of a cationic biodegradable polypeptide and a terminal OPSS group makes OPSS-PArg an excellent material for redox-responsive drug delivery, reversible protein conjugation, gene delivery, nanoparticle functionalization, hydrogel preparation, and advanced biomaterials.
