Description
General Description
PLGA-Cy5 is a fluorescent biodegradable polyester prepared by covalently conjugating Cyanine 5 (Cy5) to poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA). The PLGA backbone retains the excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility of conventional PLGA, while the Cy5 fluorophore provides bright near-infrared fluorescence with high photostability and minimal tissue autofluorescence.
PLGA-Cy5 can be formulated into nanoparticles, microspheres, implants, and injectable drug delivery systems while maintaining stable fluorescent labeling throughout fabrication and biological evaluation. Compared with visible fluorophores, Cy5 offers deeper tissue penetration and improved signal-to-noise ratios, making PLGA-Cy5 particularly useful for both in vitro and in vivo imaging applications.
PLGA-Cy5 is extensively used to study nanoparticle biodistribution, cellular internalization, intracellular trafficking, drug release behavior, tissue penetration, and polymer degradation in nanomedicine and pharmaceutical research.
